North East Family Action Teams concluded their 18 month “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World” curriculum and regular monthly meetings.  The families who participated during the past 18 months felt that their lives have been changed and feel better prepared to move forward with future goals and become more involved in community projects.  One individual has completed her training for Certified Nurses Assistant certification and is awaiting the exam. Another participant claimed that the most helpful thing about the experience was that it “really made me look deeply into myself accessing my strengths and weaknesses”.  One FACT Team member has been selected to receive the 2012 Community Action Association of PA Self- Sufficiency Award in Harrisburg this upcoming April.  Families also developed lasting relationships with their community partners, who assisted the families with staying on course and achieving their goals.
